The Episcopal Church in Province VIII is seeking a lay person to fill the
position of Provincial Representative to Executive Council. The
candidate will fill a 1½ year interim position. The interim
representative may stand for re-election at the provincial synod in
September 2008 to take office after General Convention 2009.
The representative will communicate the work of the Executive Council to the provincial leadership. The skills required include public and human relations skills; writing skills; ability to work in multi-cultural settings; public-speaking skills; and familiarity with the Episcopal Church and its structures. The representative must have the ability to travel up to 15 days per year on weekdays or weekends. This person should have previous experience and exposure to the larger church while also having some Provincial VIII perspective since he or she will be representing the Province. The representative must be able to serve as the Province VIII representative on a wide range of issues rather than focus on single issues or a personal agenda.
The core bases of the role of an Executive Council member may be found in Canon I.4.1(a) of the Constitution & Canons (pg. 30).
Our deadline has been extended. Applicants should apply by March 24 to Province VIII - Executive Committee; c/o Patricia Erskine; Email:province8coordinator@gmail.com. Phone interviews will be held March 24-28 and a decision will be announced the week of March 31st.
