April was Earth Month. In an effort to make EVERY day Earth Day, the House of Bishops of Province VIII, the
Bishops' Committee for the Environment of the Diocese of Olympia, and
the Faith and Environment network of Province VIII are challenging all
Episcopalians, dioceses, parishes, missions, committees, friends and
neighbors to adopt the Genesis Covenant. Join Episcopalians around the
globe in Celebrating Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22nd, with conversation
and commitment to reduce our carbon footprint.
Please
share the letter and resources from the House of Bishops in
your
churches this month. Get a copy to
parish administrators today! Spread
the word in church bulletins, websites,
Facebook, blogs and Twitter. Please help us care for God's creation by
implementing at least one of the suggestions offered in the letter.
This is the day which the Lord hath made...let us rejoice and help
raise the environmental awareness of everyone within our personal
lives, our congregations, and the larger community.
Thanks to author The Rev. Dr. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas, coordinator Chris Christensen Bishops' Committee for the Environment & Province VIII

There was a small but
significant "oops" in the pastoral letter on the environment that was posted last week. Please find attached the corrected letter with the
additional signature of the The Rt. Rev. Brian Thom, Bishop of Idaho.
Thanks for your work promoting the adoption of the Genesis Covenant in Province VIII. I hope you will share stories of
inspiring creation care sermons, choral music, and presentations to
churches about becoming partners in Greening Congregations. A special environmental resource page for our website will be available soon. May our congregations be inspired, energized, and applauded wildly for their efforts!
