We are glad you have contacted us and hope that you will find the information that you need in these pages to be informed of provincial activity and to be supported in your mission. Following the General Convention in Anaheim, we now enter a new triennium in which there will be changes in the way we do program as a church. The Episcopal Church Center has reorganized the Department of Mission into five teams: Global Partnerships; Diocesan and Congregational Life; Lifelong Christian Formation; Ethnic, Multicultural, Social and Environmental Witness; and Government Advocacy for Peace and Justice. The specialized ministries are Episcopal Migration Ministries and Federal Ministries/Chaplaincies.
The special role that we at the provincial level have is to be a communications link between programs of the ECC and those of the dioceses. Networking is crucial to provincial success. Through our diocesan liaison network and program networks, our goal is to communicate, support and enhance Christ’s mission in the province. Our Province is the largest in geographic area of the nine provinces in our Church comprising over 900 congregations within seventeen dioceses, one area mission, and The Episcopal Church in Micronesia.
In these pages you will see the wonderful diversity of the eighth Province of the Episcopal Church. Through our three clusters of ministry networks, Women’s Ministry, Ethnic and Social Justice, and Education, and the work of their Conveners in association with our Provincial Coordinator, we hope to connect one another in a way that enhances this mission of doing God’s work together in this wonderful part of our Church! Please contact us for further information and assistance in your own ministry. Again, welcome to Province VIII!
